Van Vigyan Park Warangal - Van Vigyan Kendra

In their endeavor to protect and preserve the sanctity of nature, the Warangal District Administration has constructed the Van Vigyan Park. Also known as the Vana Vigyan Kendra, the park is both an educational as well as an entertainment centre.
The Vana Vigyan Park is located in Hunter road in Hanamkonda city in the historical district of Warangal. The park is built and maintained by the Forest Department and is sprawled over an area of 50 acres.

The park houses a variety of flora and fauna which are looked after by the Forest Department officials. The place is a happy habitat for animals like spotted deer, nilgai, sambhar, crocodiles, rabbits, tortoises and sloth bear. Pleasant chirping of birds helps to add to the beauty of the delightful surroundings. Feathered friends like peacock, pheasants, lovebirds, pigeons, ring doves and ducks welcome guests who come to marvel at their beauty.

The Vana Vigyan Park provides ample educational opportunities for teaching children the need and importance of preserving their environment. It is a popular choice among schools for organizing study or field trips. In fact the park was built with the intent to help the new generation understand how they interact with nature and realize the critical need to preserve and nurture this interaction for their posterity and for the good of humanity . To facilitate this need the authorities have also built an Environment Education Centre within the park premises. This is a complete repository of education materials to help the general public understand and value the role nature plays in their lives. The centre houses a well-stocked library, an auditorium to host shows on nature and the environment and a museum which displays natural history artifacts and exhibits. The well-maintained park that records a daily count of 500 footfalls, which doubles during festivals and public holidays, vouches for the fact that the purpose has been achieved satisfactorily.

The Park though popular still needs some improvements so far as it’s internal roads and lighting is concerned. The authorities are working towards improving these areas so as to ensure that tourists are provided with superior amenities and a better experience.

Set amidst lush green surroundings, the Vann Vigyan Park provides ample opportunities for tourists to breathe in fresh air. The park has a few swings and other play equipments for the entertainment of children. However, work is underway for improving these and getting superior quality play equipments. Nevertheless, the park lawns however provide sufficient scope for children to run around and rejuvenate their spirits.

In the current hustle and bustle of everyday life the greenery of Van Vigyan Park is like a breath of fresh air. Tourists can relax their tired nerves and refresh their minds. This gives the modern generation the much needed breathing space that helps them prepare for the busy days awaiting them.

The Park helps to mix education with entertainment. As on one hand, the Environment Centre works towards educating tourists about the importance of maintaining a healthy environment; on the other hand the scenic and serene surroundings helps to provide them with sufficient entertainment. It is a perfect win-win situation for all those who plan to spend the day within its relaxing precincts.

Located at only a distance of 6 kms from the Warangal city, the Van Vigyan Park is easily accessible by road. A must see tourist destination to help refresh and rejuvenate the mind and the soul.
