Wargal Saraswati Temple

Wargal Saraswati temple, also called Sri Vidya Saraswati temple, is a Hindu shrine nestled in the Telangana state of India. It is among the few temples in Telangana dedicated to Saraswati, the deity of education in Hinduism. The temple complex was a brain child of Yayavaram Chandrashekhara Sharma, scholar-ed follower of goddesses Saraswati. Presently, the temple is maintained by Kanchi Shanker Mutt.

It is located in Medak district in Telangana. The temple is situated on a hillock near Wargal village.

Significance of Wargal Saraswati Temple
Since the temple is dedicated to goddess Saraswati, it is visited by many education enthusiasts. Various families flock to the temple for their children's ‘Akshara abyasam’ or learning ceremony. Here free meals are also provided to the devotees called as ‘Nitya Annadanam’.

Navratri's, Moola Nakshatram (Birth star of Goddess Saraswati) is regarded as the most propitious day for worshiping Saraswati Devi. During this day special rituals are observed at the temple. This ancient temple is also significant for Vasant Panchamiand Sharad Navratri festivals that are celebrated every year.

Veda Paathashaala at Wargal Saraswati Temple
With the aim of spreading knowledge of Veda, a Veda Paathashaala was added on the premises of the temple. There are about 300 students who are provided accommodation on the temple premises.

Tourists can also visit the nearby holy shrines of Wargal Saraswati temple. In the vicinity, there is Lord Shiva temple, Lakshmi Ganapathi temple, Shani temple and Sri Venugopalaswamy temple. All these temples are ancient and have historic significance. Then Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is located just 15 km away from Wargal. Another temple that is Lord Venkateshwar Swamy temple located near Shamirpet, can also be visited.

People can utilise roadway to reach the temple as a good number of bus services are available from varied places. One can book APSRTC buses that are available every 10 minutes from Jubilee Bus Station. Then the buses going towards Siddipet, Karimnagar, Mancherial, Vemulawada can be stopped at Wargal X roads at request. The temple is located just 5 km from the cross roads. Private transport facility can also be availed from Wargal X Road to Temple.
