Lumbini Park is a small public, urban park of 7.5 acres (0.030 km2; 0.0117 sq mi) adjacent to Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad, India. Since it is located in the center of the city and is in close proximity to other tourist attractions, such as Birla Mandir and Necklace Road, it attracts many visitors throughout the year. Constructed in 1994, the park is maintained by the Buddha Purnima Project Authority that functions under the directives of the Government of Telangana.

Situated quite close to the famous standing statue of Lord Buddha and Hussain Sagar Lake, the largest artificial lake of Asia, the Lumbini Park is a place worth visiting. The main attraction of the Lumbini Park is the giant clock at the entrance of the park which has been designed using various kinds of colourful flowering plants.

Along with seasonal flowering plants, wide variety of cacti and rocks, the park also has many options to keep kids entertained. The Musical fountain and water cascades attracts everyone. The musical fountain and the laser show at the Lumbini park is something not to be missed. From the park, one can also go for boating at the Hussain Sagar and to the Buddha Statue in the middle of the lake. The timing of the musical fountain is from 6.30 P.M. and 8 P.M.

The park enjoys a good location as it is surrounded by the state Secretariat, the Hussain Sagar lake and the famous Birla Mandir. The park is open to visitors from 9.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M on all weekdays except Mondays.



Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy Botanical Gardens Hyderabad


 


The Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in Hyderabad. It was developed by the Forests Department and is near the HITEC City, Madhapur, 16 kilometres (10 mi) from Hyderabad Railway station on the Hyderabad-Mumbai old Highway.

This Eco-tourists places attracts many visitors and with medical plants, fruit trees, aquatic plants, timber trees, bamboo tress etc., with a large area dedicated to each section. Out of all those Bamboo sector is most the attracting and must see with each bamboo tree separated by a distance of 3 meters at least. Palm section also is must see with diverse species of trees as it has variety of flowers like Cosmos both in yellow and purple, blue Salvia, Raselia plants. NTR Gardens Hyderabad: Built in the memory of late Shri N T Rama Rao, former and one of the most popular chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, NTR Memorial Gardens are one of the famous sightseeing places of Hyderabad. Spread across an area of 36 acres, NTR Gardens present a soothing atmosphere and refreshing setting to spend some time.

The Garden offers various kinds of recreational options as well. Some of these are boat ride, Japanese garden, machan tree, etc. There is a Children's playing area that keep kids entertained. Various eat out joints, car cafe and fruit restaurant which is a 2000-square-metre restaurant circumvented by three petal-shaped ponds offer not just mouth watering dishes but also beautiful setting to relish the same. Try out local food items from the various stalls such as mirchi bajji while relaxing amidst the beauty of the garden.

A mini train on a single track takes the visitors all around the garden making your visit all the more enjoyable. One can visit the NTR Garden from 8am to 7pm.

Saroornagar Lake



Saroornagar Lake is one of the artificial lakes of Hyderabad. It was developed in the year 1626 in the area of 180 acres with a depth of 21 feet, during the rule of Quli Qutub Shah for solving the problems like drinking water, agricultural and irrigational needs of the Hyderabad. This is 400 years old lake. Saroornagar Lake is considered as top five water bodies of the city and is next larger than Hussain Sagar Lake.

Saroornagar Lake for more than 350 years served drinking water to the areas near to it, but now it is being used as a cesspool for the storage of domestic garbage and sewage of people of Hyderabad as the population of Hyderabad has grown. HUDA monitors the Saroonagar Lake and is trying to beautify the lake and also constructed a Priyadarshini Park on the other side of the lake and also started the boating facility in the lake. The park is spread over 5 acres of land with lush green grass and made it as amusement park with different play fields and food courts in the park. People of Hyderabad come to this Lake for relaxing just by having some snacks that are available on the wide foot path of the lake and people also come for walking, jogging in the mornings and evenings. It has become the picnic spot for the people of Hyderabad. Because of the excellent view it has got with the birds, the park and its nature, it is attracting the visitors to this place and has become one of the tourist places of Hyderabad.

Mir Alam Tank Hyderabad




Mir Alam Tank is a tank in Hyderabad, India, located to the south of Musi river. It was the primary source of drinking water to Hyderabad before Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar were built. It is connected to National Highway7 near Palm Valley

The tank was named after Mir Alam Bahadur, then Prime Minister (1804 - 1808) of Hyderabad state during the reign of Asaf Jah III, the third Nizam of Hyderabad state. Mir Alam laid the foundation for the tank on July 20, 1804 and it was completed in about two years on June 8, 1806

Built right next to the Nehru Zoological Park, Mir Alam Tank is a small lake in Hyderabad where a tourist can feel the peace and tranquility of nature untouched by time. The exclusive characteristic of this Tank is that it has 21 in-built small stonework dams, semi-circular in figure. The Mir Alam, (who ruled for a period of 1804 – 1808), the then Prime Minister of Hyderabad and the creator of the Tank were the reason that made its name as The Mir Alam Tank. The edifice of this tank is truly worth appreciating. It is a superb example of engineering, comprising of one-mile bund with 21 semi-circular arches put up on it, thus giving the whole scene a grand look.

You can also visit the Nehru Zoological Park, which is situated right next to it, is another advantage of planning a tour to the Mir Alam Tank. Tourist can enjoy visiting the wildlife of the Zoo along with the calm view of the Tank.

Rukn ud Daula Lake Hyderabad



Rukn ud Daula Lake is a small lake located in Hyderabad, India not much popular nationwide. This lake was tribute to Nawab Rukn ud Daula and it was named after him. For those who don’t know Rukn ud Daula, he was the 10th Prime Minister of Nizam from 1765 to 1775 and enjoyed courtesy with Nizam kings Mir Akbar Ali Khan Sikander Jah and Asaf Jah III of Hyderabad State.
He was also the father of Mahalaqa Chanda who was the first women to publish a poetry book written in Urdu. The Rukn ud Daula Lake has its own importance and history. The water from this lake was used for drinking by the Nizam’s kings and their family who lived in Chowmahalla Palace. The water was filled in barrels which was carried to the Royal house on bull carts after it was sealed in the presence of Daruga (officer in charge for the inspection of food for the Royal families and their guests).

Rukn ud Daula Lake was large enough and it was spread over an acre of 104 acres. But over the few decades with the increase in population the lake shrunk day by day and even the water got polluted. Once the historic drinking water lake is now not even seen by the people. The area of the body is encroached by the private parties. The present condition of the lake is very worst and the name of Rukn ud Daula Lake is forgotten in the present era as the history of past.

The lake is located in Shivarampally area of Hyderabad where the famous Mir Alam Tank and Zoo Park is located.

Himayat Sagar Lake,Hyderabad




Himayat Sagar is an artificial lake about 20 km from Hyderabad in Telangana, India. It lies parallel to a larger artificial lake Osman Sagar. The storage capacity of the reservoir is about 3.0 TMC.

The construction of reservoir on Esi a tributary of Musi River was completed in 1927, for providing drinking water source for Hyderabad and saving the city from floods, which Hyderabad suffered in 1908. It was built during the reign of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Nizam VII and so it is named after his youngest son Himayat Ali Khan.

The Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar reservoirs provided continuous water supply to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad until recently. Due to population growth it was not sufficient for water supply to Hyderabad city.

The grassy area adjoining the lake is an ideal picnic and recreation spot. The road atop the bund is popular for a good drive.

In June 2012, the water level at Osmansagar was 1769.8 feet. On October 1, 2012, the level was 1771.8 feet, an increase of a mere 2 feet. Similarly, in Himayatsagar, the water level in June 2012 was 1743.3 feet and on October 1, it was 1,747.4 feet, an increase of about 4 feet. In October 2011, the water levels at Osmansagar and Himayatsagar were 1781.9 feet and 1754.9 feet respectively.

Himayat Sagar lake of Hyderabad provides drinking water and meets irrigation water requirements in the region. Himayat Sagar lake in Hyderabad also serves another secondary function- the lake recharges the groundwater level in the immediate geological area.

The road on the bund of Himayat Sagar lake provides an exhilarating driving experience. The heavenly combination of crisp clean air, sparkling water and lush vegetation makes for an ideal tourist spot.

The Shamirpet Police takes care of the lake as there were many cases regarding drowning of people in this lake. There are many Warning Boards around the lake erected by the Authorities.

The Nalsar University of Law is also situated near the lake, which is one of the top Law schools of India.

Boating facility is available and in its vicinity one can see the Shamirpet deer park. It is amazing to see the various species of deer that come to the lake to quench their thirst. The best time to visit the lake is from October to March.

Gandipet Lake Hyderabad




Gandipet Lake also known as Osman Sagar Lake is located in the City of Hyderabad. The lake got its name for the reason that late seventh Nizam of Hyderabad Mir Osman Ali Khan in 1920 built a Dam over the lake to save the city from drowning into flood. Spreading over an area of 46 kms it is the main reservoir for the twin cities - Hyderabad and Secundarabad. The dam built came as a savor of the city.

The tourism department initiated steps in 2001 for promoting the lake as a tourist destination. As a part of this plan, five boats were to be deployed at the lake. In 2002, the lake is considered as an ideal destination for people who intend to indulge in fishing as a pastime. The lake has been adorned with various beautification steps while the area surrounding the lake has been illuminated with artificial waterfalls, a rock garden and a floating fountain were added. In addition to this, a 2-kilometer walkway was created and opened for public.

For heritage lovers, the rocks of this lake are living fossils while nature enthusiasts collect specimens from the lake and the shrubs nearby which is replete with good flora and fauna.

Facilities
The Tourism Department has provided camping, pedal boating, and trekking facilities. The park on the top is a perfect place to spend a quiet evening and watch the sun set. The water during sunset takes a golden colour and the lush green trees surrounding it make it a wonderful sight. There is yet another view of the secret lake, from the road that is equally beautiful, where one can spot peacocks and birds in the early mornings. There is also a well-maintained restaurant for people looking for food and refreshments.

Boats are usually hired for film shootings at Rs. 2,500/- per day for a 4-seater pedal boat and for water scooter the tariff is approximately Rs.3,000/- per day. Boating of all types such as Mechanized Boat, Water Scooter & Pedal Boat is readily available here, a major highlight of the lake. The trip on a mechanized boat is very much thrilling as it takes tourists from one end of the lake to the other. Similarly, a ride on a putty’, that has been newly introduced, is indeed quite thrilling and it costs you around Rs. 20/- per trip.

Added attractions
Adventure activities such as rock climbing, trekking, rappelling, an art gallery and a sculptor park for artists are now some of the added attractions. It also has an amphitheater, with a capacity to hold 1,500 people at a time. Youngsters of Hyderabad and some adventure clubs organize trekking activities at Durgam Cheruvu during weekends, which are a big draw.
The lighting facility in the backdrop of heritage rocks here adds a completely different dimension to the beauty of the lake. The silent chirps of birds and the easy access to Hyderabad’s IT corridor has earned Durgam Cheruvu a unique name and is frequented by employees of the technology companies located close by.

This lake is one best place for the film shootings and it is recommended for its picturesque picnic spot. The cost of film shooting is around Rs.75,000/- per day. You can have a very relaxing time, exploring the gentle waves of water, the lush greenery around and the rocky terrains. How to Reach
The lake is a 2-kilomtere drive from Cyber Towers and one has to traverse short lanes and urban settlements from Jubilee hills. It takes 10 minutes to reach Durgam Cheruvu from Madhapur police station.

The best time to visit the lake is during the evening. However, the lake is a paradise for people living in the vicinity where one can enjoy morning work and jog around in an environment with fresh air.

Osman Sagar Lake in Hyderabad



Osman Sagar Lake popularly known as the Gandipet, lies 20 km west on the outskirts of city of Hyderabad. It is spread over an area of 46 square km. It is the man made lake created by the dam across the Isa, a tributary of the river Musi. It is the main source of water supply to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Sagar Mahal :
Overlooking the lake, Sagar Mahal is the historical building, which was used by the Nizam of Hyderabad as the summer resort. The Mahal is located on the banks providing the magnificent view of the Lake. But with the passage of time this heritage building was converted into the lake resort by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development. Tourists who wants to stay here overnight can hire the guest room in the Sagar Mahal. It has ten double rooms with all the modern requirements. 

Picnic at Osman Sagar lake 
The pristine lake is the most sought after picnic spot among the locals in Hyderabad. Shahi Masjid, Hyderabad




Shahi Masjid is a majestic mosque and popular pilgrimage center located inside the Public Gardens, one of oldest gardens in Hyderabad that was built in 1846 during the Nizam rule.

The last Nizam used to come here with his family members on Fridays and during special festivals like Eid to offer prayers, thus giving the mosque its name, Shahi Masjid or Royal Mosque.

Courses on Astronomy and Astrophysics are also conducted here.

The visiting time is from 10.30A.M to 3.00 P.M. The entry fee is Rs. 12 and children below five are not allowed inside the planetarium.

Science Museum - The B.M. Birla Science Museum which showcases India’s own achievements in science is the second phase of the science centre. Opened in 1990, the science museum encloses an archaeology and fine arts gallery that comprises unique archaeological exhibits both excavated and collected. This archaeological gallery is further divided into a stone sculpture gallery, wood carving gallery, gallery of miniature paintings and so on.

The visiting time is from 10.30A.M to 8.15 P.M.

Dinosaurium - The third phase of the science centre, Dinosaurium opened in 2000, is a unique natural history gallery which has a collection of smaller fossils of dinosaur eggs, marine shells, fossilized tree trunks etc. The major highlight here is the rare and magnificent fossil of a 160 million years old Dinosaur, Kotasaurus, belonging to the Lower Jurassic age.

Surendrapuri Yadagirigutta



Surendrapuri is a museum located about 60km from Hyderabad, India. The museum is also known as Mythological Awareness Center. As the name indicates, it was established to create an awareness of Indian mythology, or more specifically Hindu mythology. It was established by Kunda Satyanarayana in memory of his son Surendra. It is also known locally as Kunda Satyanarayana Kala Dhamam, in his honor. Meaning that Kunda Satyanarayana has used artistry extensively to depict mythology.

It contains nearly full sized replicas of almost all the important Hindu temples in India. The architecture of the temple and the sculptures inside makes one feel as if one is in the actual holy place itself. There are a few hundred such replicas. The sculptures are displayed in open air indoors, depending on the size of the replica and the mythological scene portrayed.

There are sculptures and paintings depicting stories from major Hindu epics like Ramayan, Mahabharat, and Bhagavat. Various mythological scenes of war between Rama and Ravana in Ramayana, including Padmavyuha in Kurukshetra between Kauravas and Pandavas in Mahabharat, are carved beautifully and portrayed in great detail.

For the religious minded, it provides satisfaction of having visited all the Hindu holy places in India in one short trip of about 3-4 hours. For the curious minded, it provides a good visual background of what Hindu mythology is all about. One does not have to be religious to visit this place.


AP State Archaeology Museum hyderabad



AP State Archeology Museum or Hyderabad Museum is a museum located in Hyderabad, India. It is the oldest museum in Hyderabad state. Archeologist Henry Cousens first explored the site in the beginning of the 19th century, and around 1940 the mound was excavated under the supervision of Nizam of Hyderabad. The excavated items were place in a museum built on the ancient site. In 1952, the museum's contents were moved to the current build, under the administrative control of Archaeological Survey of India.

History

In 1930, Nizam VII Mir Osman Ail Khan, wanted to preserve the Hyderabad's state's heritage, had named the museum as Hyderabad Museum.

It was named as Andhra Pradesh State Archeology Museum in 1960.

Collection

This museum's main attraction is its Egyptian mummy, which was brought to Hyderabad by the son-in-law of VI Nizam Mahbub Ali Khan, and donated it to the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan. He reportedly brought it for a paltry sum of 1000 pounds.

There is a huge gallery on Buddha dating back to last century. The museum has wide variety of archaeological artifacts from the Nizam, Kakatiya dynasty.

The museum was inaugurated on 11 March 2012 by Nizam`s Jubilee Pavilion Trust chairman, Prince Muffakham Jah, the grandson of the last ruler of Hyderabad state Mir Osman Ali Khan.

Salarjung museum History:
